Les Amis de Saint-Nicaise du Chemin-Vert Society intends to be involved in enhancing and restoring Saint-Nicaise church, as well as preserving its furniture and promoting its cultural, artistic and touristic appeal of this outstanding place of worship. This church and the Chemin-Vert garden city now add to Reims’s attractiveness.
Saint-Nicaise church, a characteristic building of the Chemin-Vert garden city was erected between 1923 and 1924. Later, the interior decoration was carried out by talented artists such as Maurice Denis, Roger de Villiers, René-Jules Lalique, just to mention but a few. Inaugurated on 8 June 1924, Saint-Nicaise is a classified historic monument since 13 February 2002.
The attractiveness of Reims depends on the involvement in protecting our heritage and to publicise it beyond our area. Les Amis de Saint-Nicaise du Chemin-Vert Society wishes to attract those people who, by their deeds and funds, wish to give this key monument of the Post-War Reconstruction period, a landmark of Art Deco, more means to increase its appeal and recognition. This effort finds its place in the inclusion of the Champagne Hillsides, Houses and Cellars inscribed on the World Heritage List.
